The Acts of the Apostles (lat. Actus Apostolorum) is the fifth book of the New Testament. It is commonly referred to as Acts and outlines the history of the Apostolic Age. The author is traditionally identified as Luke the Evangelist. CompositionMain article: Authorship of Luke-Acts Ministry of the Apostles. Russian icon by Fyodor Zubov, 1660.While the precise identity of the author is debated, the general consensus is that this gospel was composed by a Greek Gentile writing for an audience of Gentile Christians. TitleThe title "Acts of the Apostles" (Greek Πράξεις ἀποστόλων Praxeis Apostolon) was not part of the original text. It was first used by Irenaeus late in the second century. Some have suggested that the title "Acts" be interpreted as "The Acts of the Holy Spirit" or even "The Acts of Jesus," since 1:1 gives the impression that these acts were set forth as an account of what Jesus continued to do and teach, Jesus himself being the principal actor. Q. In the past few years there has been several shootings and other violent acts at colleges/universities around the United States. What can those institutions do to help stop these events from occurring? More security, metal detectors, check bags, etc? Also, state whether or not you're a college student, because that is an important factor. How much are you willing to give up privacy wise, to be (or feel) safer at school? Asked by donutdan4114 - Thu Feb 28 01:46:00 2008 - - 6 Answers - 2 Comments A. I'm not a college student but I have spoken up about this subject to my college professor friend several times in the past asking him this very question. I don't think the colleges really have the answers but if one was to look at the experts in the field of violence they will tell you to speak up to everyone who comes in contact with any youth who have been hurt. Work with friends, law enforcement, health care workers, schools, employers, and court systems to help young people recover emotionally as well as physically. Be there for them, spend more time with them, and listen if they want to talk about their feelings or worries. Injury is not just physical so give them a safe place to talk about how they feel, not just once but many times.… [cont.] Answered by bobe - Thu Feb 28 02:17:08 2008 How do you combat random acts of vandalism? Q. Until we are able to move which will be sometime this summer, what do you suggest we do about random acts of vandalism in our neighborhood? Broken windows in cars and homes. Police can't do anything unless they are caught, but the cowards never stick around. Asked by Aresea - Tue Feb 13 19:40:04 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Rent the DVD Death Wish, relax, call the cops when you observe it. Or organize a community meeting to address the root causes of the vandalism. Maybe provide a viable alternative for once. Asked by angelica k - Wed Jan 28 21:02:08 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Gravitational force is what gives us weight. The gravitational force on teh woman is 400 N directed towards the Earth's centre of mass ( which is effectively at the centre of the planet.). 400 N downwards.
