Psalms (Hebrew: Tehilim‎, תהילים, or "praises") is a book of the Hebrew Bible (the Christian Old Testament), included in the collected works known as the "Writings" or Ketuvim.

Composition and numbering

The Book of Psalms consists of 150 psalms, each of which constitutes a religious song, though one or two are atypically long and may constitute a set of related chants. When the Bible was divided into chapters, each Psalm was assigned its own chapter. Psalms are sometimes referenced as chapters, despite chapter assignments postdating the initial composition of the "canonical" Psalms by at least 1,500 years.

How to Make a Beautiful Hand Written Book of Psalms?
Q. I wanted to hand write The Book of Psalms in an artistic fashion in a drawing book. Besides calligraphy, are there any writing styles or something else that I can incorporate to make the book look beautiful?
Asked by Nina - Fri Dec 5 22:14:53 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Calligraphy IS the art of beautiful writing---using pens, markers, brushes. So writing in a beautiful style can mean using different tools or lettering styles. Many typefaces can be emulated with a pen... need to find one that you like and see if you can write in that style. Perhaps using color would give the work another depth... either putting some color in the background (watercolor washes), some patterns for border or using colored inks to write. Have to be careful that the paper in the drawing book will take wet media such as ink, paint. If not...then maybe markers, pastels, colored pencils would work.

A. Proverbs 23:7, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." This passage is part of a warning against succumbing to the desires of the world. Proverbs 23: 1When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: 2And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. 3Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat. 4Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. 5Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. 6Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: 7For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee;… [cont.]

The Psalms are being rediscovered by the Christian Churches as a inspirational prayer in uniting Christian?
Q. Will the Psalms be an intrument in uniting the Christians, Hebrew and Moslem's someday. How close are the Hindi and Buddist thought to the Psalms

A. Are they really? The Psalms are basically an unrelated collection or prose and poetry, often erroneously attributed to the fictional King David. Many of them are beautiful and inspiring, even to this old atheist. Others? Why don't you be the judge: "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." -- Psalm 137:9 The thing that stands out about the psalms is how violent, vengeful, and vindictive they are. "Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth ... let them be cut pieces." Such prayers fill the psalms along with statements like this: "The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked." Here are some highlights: * God will hit the heathens… [cont.]

Psalms is a book of The Bible. It consists of 150 hymns. Traditionally, most of them are said to have been written by King David.

Note: There are many different translations of the Bible, and most have some small differences between their texts.
