I have been trying to figure out why evangelical ideas are so popular. Is it the idea that I can do wrong things and just pass the punishment on to Jesus? He takes on the suffering for our sins. Is that it? Asked by Lakely - Sat Nov 15 02:57:31 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. a lot of different things make it so popular. on a positive note: i have been to many Holy Spirit, dancing in the isle, churches and was a member of one for 5 years. the presence of the Holy Spirit is tangibly felt. there is a heat, like a gentle fire, that comes on a person when they receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. then comes speaking in tongues. i had this experience and it is powerful. i don't go to church anymore, but i still have this gift. the most popular churches are the charasmatics and pentacostals. churches are seating thousands and thousands. they are having 2 and 3 services on one day, because there are not enough seats to seat everyone at once. the power of God is literally felt in these services. for… [cont.] Answered by wholehearted - Sat Nov 15 13:37:14 2008 What is the difference between a Christian "Fundamentalist" and an "Evangelical"? Q. Are all Fundamentalists Evangelical? Are all Evangelicals Fundamentalist? (I'm focusing on Protestant Christians with these questions, not the use of similar terms with other religions and even political factions.) Asked by IGAT Metrics - Sat May 23 14:30:23 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Fundamentalism is the extreme end of evangelicalism - the ones that believe the whole bible to be literally true, which most evangelicals don't. Answered by The Dark Side - Sat May 23 14:40:54 2009 How would an Evangelical Christian know that homosexuality is a choice unless they themselves were gay?
Q. Many Christians state that homosexuality is a choice and that homosexuals can change. I believe that homosexuals are born that way and that God made them homosexuals for a purpose unknown to us at this time. I nearly got kicked out of my Christian church for discussing this fact with my pastor! I no longer think the Baptist church is the place for me. The church is full of nothing but hateful bigots! Asked by James H - Thu Jan 1 22:21:24 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Some Christians put things into rigid categories and try to second-guess God's thinking about the entire process. They cherry-pick certain bible passages and develop what they think was God's "plan", and sometimes their categories keep them from noticing or considering any other viewpoint. What you are saying is of course correct. How could they possibly know that? But they developed a scheme of understanding whereby God created *everyone* to mate with someone of the opposite sex and have children because that is God's one and only possible "plan", and therefore your understanding must be wrong, lol. Check out Lutheran (ELCA, not LCMS - Missouri), Episcopal, and United Church of Christ houses of worship.
