Is modern day RAF and army uniform significantly different to 1940s uniforms?
Q. I'm going to a 1940s event where I would like to dress as a wartime RAF or Army officer. Obviously, it's important to look the part, but full reproduction period uniforms are far too expensive for me (at least 200-300). Would I look really out of place if I went in modern uniform from a surplus store (would probably cost around 50)? Is it significantly different?

A. Most critically during the Second World War service uniforms changed drastically, to reduce manufacturing times and save resources for the war effort thus landing you in a pickle. Some aspects of uniform has changed significantly while others have not. Uniform for the different services are different, with combinations numbering into the teens for different occasions. Finally in the Army each regiment still preserves many of their own traditions, whilst the RAF has less heritage and has one standard uniform. Ceremonial uniforms (Full Dress and No. 1's) have practically not changed at all with the passing of time. These uniforms generally involve a lot of tailoring and are rather expensive. This is the only part of British Army uniform to… [cont.]

What evidence is there that modern humans are still evolving?
Q. For example, there is fossil evidence to show that medieval humans were averagely shorter than modern. Additionally, humans are beginning to lose their third molars. What further evidence is there that modern humans have evolved since the appearance of Homo sapiens? What evidence is there to show that we will still evolve in the future? Please list relevant articles pertaining to this topic.

A. Evidence: Look around you at all the young guys who are bald or balding, and I've never seen so many obese kids in my sixty odd years as I do these days. What will they be like in 20 years time?

What's the proper way to balance modern etiquette with traditional etiquette?
Q. I feel that feminism has damaged and needlessly complicated a lot of the inter-gender etiquette rules. For example, I make it a rule to open the door for any lady (and gentleman, but that's irrelevant to this topic) I see. But I have been bashed a number of times for this, being told that "women are not fragile, and can take care of themselves". So, when studying modern etiquette forms, what is the best way to truly know whether something has been influenced by feminism/liberalism, or whether something is legitimately polite or not?

A. You are so right, and you do have my greatest sympathy for being a man (k.o.c) Women do make it confusing and difficult for men. On one hand they want to be treated like ladies, and at the same time they want their independence. Oh what a headache!! My advice would be, stick to the traditional. Open doors Hold doors open for those behind you Open car doors Pull chairs Stand up when she leaves the table, and again when she comes back to the table First order her food before ordering your own when telling the waiter ... You know the rest. It's too long to put all of it here. I always admire a man who is a gentleman :) *-* If she doesn't like it, you know that she is no 'lady' ... and just ignore it.
