The Reformed churches are a group of Christian Protestant denominations formally characterized by a similar Calvinist system of doctrine, historically related to the churches that first arose especially in the Swiss Reformation led by Huldrych Zwingli and soon afterward appeared in nations throughout Western and Central Europe. Each nation in which the Reformed movement was originally established had its own church government. Several of these national churches have expanded to worldwide denominations and most have experienced splits into multiple denominations. Commitment to teaching the original Calvinism usually continues to be reflected in their official definitions of doctrine, but in some cases is no longer necessarily typical of these churches. A 1999 survey found 746 Reformed denominations worldwide.

History

The first Reformed churches were established in Europe in the 1500s, in the wake of the Protestant Reformation.

LDS or others, where can I find a web site on reformed hieroglyphics?
Q. I've tried my search engines but nothing much comes up. Can anyone recommend an authority upon the subject please, and what are reformed hieroglyphics?
Asked by Georgie B - Fri Dec 26 00:13:30 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Search for the words "Demotic" and "Hieratic". These are the most well known expamples of reformed Egyptian dating from Lehi's day. It may be misleading to refer to them as hieroglyphics, as they also contained an alphabet. As a trader, Lehi and his family would probably have known the Demotic, since the Hieratic was used primarily among Egyptian priests. Egypt was an ally of Jerusalem at the time, and there was a significant trade between the two.

Why does Reformed Protestants considers Christmas to be a "Pagan" holiday?
Q. Reformed Protestants even Jehovah's witnesses considers Christmas to be a Pagan holiday and they discourage their members from observing this holiday. If you're one of them, How could you Imagine life without Christmas? The most merry holidays of all?
Asked by Bee V - Mon Feb 9 03:17:04 2009 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I do not stop anyone from pursuing the holiday if they wish, just don't try to get me to do so. The reason I refer to Christmas as being Pagan, is because it is. Do some research about it. Even my hometown news paper, not religious in the least, used to run articles about it being Pagan each December. As for it being "the most merry" holiday, that is a matter of opinion. Not mine personally. Even if it is the Most happy experience ever, that wouldn't change it from being Pagan. Many people believe taking drugs to be quite enjoyable, however that doesn't make it a Christian thing to do.

How does one go about getting SSI/Social Security Regs Reformed?
Q. there is a big problem with both SSI and Social Security Disability regs concerning the spouses of disabled persons working. Spouses are told that they cannot work to contribute to the home and the spouse receive lowered benefits. It would make better sense for the spouses of disabled individuals be allowed to work to reduce the load on the government, but this is not allowed. I would like to see this change, and need a starting place. Thank you!

A. Influencing legislation requires two things, or a combination of the two: 1. A billion dollars to bribe politicians (the polite term is "campaign contribution"); or, 2. The support of millions of people who agree with you and are willing to be active in the matter. Maybe you could find an establihed organization that is working towards similar goals and try to get their support.
