Systematic theology is a discipline of Christian theology that attempts to formulate an orderly, rational, and coherent account of the Christian faith and beliefs. Inherent to a system of theological thought is that a method is developed, one which can be applied both broadly and particularly. Systematic theology draws on the foundations of the sacred texts of Christianity, and also looks to the development of doctrine over the course of history, philosophy, science, and ethics to produce as full a view and as versatile a philosophical approach as possible. GNU Free Documentation License Christians: do you think all those planning to become ministers should study theology at a seminary? Q. I believe ALL those wanting to become ordained ministers should study theology at a seminary and graduate with a theology degree. Only naive Christians believe that future ministers don't need training in systematic theology, church history, pastoral methods, and biblical exegesis. Also, just because the Holy Spirit guides believers in interpreting Scripture doesn't mean we should not use earthly tools and our brains to equip people for the pastorate. Knowing bible doctrines and the skills of hermeneutics are essential for pastoral work. Asked by helper725 - Mon Jul 23 02:25:31 2007 - - 9 Answers - 2 Comments A. While I'm not Christian, I completely agree with you. There are colleges that students can get an undergrad in religion as well. (I earn a Liberal Studies degree with an emphasis in religion at my university!) Last summer I went to Egypt for school, and there was a girl on the trip who said she was going to be a minister. Because I was a religion major, I wondered why I have never seen her in any of my religion classes before the travel-class. I asked her about it, and she said she was an English major because she didn't need to study her own religion at college. This was pretty arrogant, and as the the trip progressed, she demonstrated on many occasions that she did not know all that much about her own religion. (I remember we visited a… [cont.] Answered by Mrs. Pears - Mon Jul 23 02:32:05 2007 Why is the canon disputed by the church? Q. 1. Why is the canon disputed by the church? Is God content to let uninspired writings falsely be proclaimed as his Word? Furthermore, how do we know the canon is complete? 2. Why has no one been able to describe a consistent objective basis for establishing the canon? Why was the canon established by vote instead of on objective principles? Why was the canon not directly revealed by God? 3. Why is so much of New Testament doctrine revealed through the use of occasional letters instead of in systematic books written, authorized, and canonized specifically to define Christian doctrine? Why didn't God deliver these himself, as he did the Law to Moses? Maybe this explains why the Old Testament Law has more clarity than the New… [cont.] Asked by shadowofears - Mon Oct 16 13:00:59 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. The Canon is just men putting forth their "own" opinions. We still get translation errors and yet we get new info almost daily adding to our knowledge. Not one scrap of original writing remains. copy of copy of copy handed down but we don't know if what we have is accurate. Man will change things to match their limited minds. We should not take the Bible literal. We have been told that Christ is the living authority-the final authority and the living word. Man has never got in one accord and never will. Get in accord with GOD. Answered by cork - Mon Oct 16 13:17:15 2006 ernest77h ?
